Dianthus 'Chesswood Sandilands - Photograph copyright RHSThe RHS is closely associated with the genus Dianthus, the carnations and pinks, in various ways. Not only has it two committees devoted to assessing these plants, it is also involved in the registration of new cultivars, and organises frequent trials.

Registration

Dianthus is one of nine important plant groups for which the RHS is the International Registration Authority.

The RHS Joint Carnation & Pinks Committee

The Committee is a source of expertise for the RHS on all matters regarding border and perpetual flowering carnations and garden, dwarf and miniature pinks. It will do all in its power to foster interest in these plants. The Committee is responsible for judging carnations and pinks for awards for exhibition at Chelsea, London Flower Shows at which it meets, and other places where the Committee may, from time to time, meet. It is also responsible for selecting cultivars for assessment for the Award of Garden Merit and judging the relevant trials at Wisley.
