RHS Photographic Competition 2008

2007 RHS Photographer of the year Sarah Gallifent's winning imageThis year's photographic competition has now closed for entries. The winners will be announced towards the end of the year and they will all be featured here. Don't forget to come back and discover who has won.

This year, the RHS Photographic Competition, supported by fine art publisher, The Medici Society, has two new categories.

The first is for young photographers (18 and under) and is entitled In the Garden, devised to inspire budding photographers to venture outside and show us what they love about their garden or local park. In turn, they could win the inaugural title of RHS Young Photographer of the Year along with a top of the range digital camera.

2007 Plant potrait of the year by Jacky ParkerThe second is The Medici Award, for aspiring greeting card designers. Anyone entering an eye-catching and commercially-savvy photo could win the title of Medici Photographer of the Year and the image made into a greeting card.

There are five other categories for amateur and professional garden photographers to show off their talents, and have a chance of winning the coveted title of RHS Photographer of the Year, and the £1,000 prize money. The categories are:

Competition prizes

Adults

RHS Photographer of the Year: £1,000
First place prize in each category: £350
Second place prize in each category: £150
Third place prize in each category: £100

Children and young people

RHS Young Photographer of the Year: Top of the range digital camera
Second and third place prizes: Photographic equipment

The Medici Award

The Medici Photographer of the Year: Image made into the 2009 RHS/Medici greeting card.
